Everyone thinks about their health.Hardly anyone thinks about the air at work.
People invest a great deal in their own health. Yet the air that passes through their lungs eight hours a day comes from a system nobody has opened for years.
Regular exercise
A balanced diet
Filtered drinking water
Keeping an eye on sleep
And then your employees spend eight hours breathing the air from exactly this system.
Under the German Workplace Ordinance (ArbStättV) and ASR A3.6, employers are obliged to provide air that is safe to breathe.
The decisive difference
Two ways through the same duct.
How the duct is accessed determines how much of your building has to be cut open in the end.
Conventional
Access by cutting open
13openings over 26 metres
Each opening has to be cut, cleaned and sealed again.
HI-Lüftungsservice
Access by robot
1opening for up to 200 metres
The robot travels the full run and cleans it completely.
Fewer leaks
Every additional opening in the duct is a point where air is permanently lost.
Lower additional costs
The operator has no panels, fitting or remedial work to pay for.
Work from an access platform
No scaffolding across the hall, and production does not have to be cleared.
Services
Everything that carries air
From hygiene inspection and duct network cleaning to coating concrete ducts.
The guideline is a recognised code of practice. Its core principle: the air supplied must never be worse than the outdoor air.
Fixed intervals
Hygiene inspection every two years for systems with humidification, otherwise every three years. These are minimum intervals, not recommendations.
Measurable target value
After cleaning, the surface dust density must be below 10 g/m². If the value is exceeded, the system is cleaned again.
Trained staff
Inspection and cleaning are carried out only by staff trained to VDI 6022, categories A and B.
Documentation requirement
Every check and every inspection must be recorded in the logbook. Without a record, you have no defence if damage occurs.
Why this matters to you
The German Workplace Ordinance (ArbStättV) requires you to have ventilation and air-conditioning systems inspected in line with the state of the art. Missing records count as organisational negligence, and fines from the statutory accident insurance institutions (Berufsgenossenschaften) can reach €25,000.
Risk 1 · Hygiene
What grows in an uncleaned system.
Dust absorbs moisture, and spores and bacteria settle on the layer. Where water is involved, Legionella bacteria join them.
Humidifiers and condensate drip trays
Standing water between 25 and 45 °C is the ideal breeding ground.
Ducts and air terminals
Layers of dust absorb moisture, and mould and bacteria grow on them.
Filter stages
Damp or overloaded filters stop protecting the system and become a source of contamination themselves.
6 to 9%
loss of productivity due to poor indoor air
130%
higher sickness absence at low ventilation rates
2 to 5 times
more polluted indoors than outdoors
Risk 2 · Operating costs
A clogged coil costs electricity every day.
Deposits increase the pressure drop. The unit has to work against its own dirt, around the clock.
Relative fan energy consumption
100
Before cleaning
50
After cleaning
Savings of 41 to 60 per cent are documented; the chart shows the midpoint of this range. Study: NADCA and University of Colorado, Energy and Buildings 2025.
1 mm
of deposits on the coil costs up to 10 per cent of heat transfer capacity
up to 50%
of total fan energy is consumed by clogged filters
up to 70%
of a commercial building's total energy goes on ventilation and air conditioning
In many systems, cleaning pays for itself through energy savings.
Inspection and cleaning
A robot that looks before it cleans
It all starts with a CCTV inspection. A remote-controlled robot with a 360-degree pan-and-tilt camera travels through your duct network and records the run. This shows us what is actually in the duct, and we also document air leakage, loose parts and damage to the insulation.
Cleaning is carried out section by section under negative pressure. An inflatable duct balloon seals off one section from the rest of the network, and the extraction unit draws the air out of it. Nothing reaches occupied rooms, and in many cases the rest of the system keeps running as normal. Where others cut an access panel every two metres, we need one access point every 50 to 100 metres.
The findings determine which tool we use: rotary brushes, air whip system, dry ice nozzle or coating nozzle. We usually clean air handling units wet, using high pressure and a collection system for the dirty water. Once the work is done, the camera runs through again and you receive the before-and-after evidence.

How we work
We fit in with your operations.
We seal off one section and clean it under negative pressure. The rest of the system keeps running as normal in the meantime.
During operation

During operation
An inflatable duct balloon seals off the section and the extraction unit creates negative pressure. The rest of the system keeps running.
At night and at weekends
If your process needs air continuously, we come outside operating hours. Out-of-hours work at a surcharge.
During holidays and company shutdowns
The least disruptive option: we work while operations are at a standstill anyway, and you do not lose a single production hour.
Documentation
What you get at the end.
Every job is recorded. Before the work, during it and afterwards. This is your evidence for authorities, insurers and auditors.

Sectors
Where we clean.
Our focus is industrial production. That is where systems are largest, requirements are highest and downtime is most expensive.
Industrial production
Large halls, high-level ducts, work from access platforms with full fall protection.
Cleanrooms and laboratories
Systems with stricter hygiene requirements and an obligation to document everything.
Hospitals and care facilities
Sensitive areas, concrete supply air ducts, coating and laboratory testing.
Offices and administration
Central ventilation and air-conditioning systems, air terminals, filter stages, airflow measurement.
Shipbuilding and yacht building
Onboard ventilation systems, including jobs outside Germany.
Residential buildings
Home ventilation systems (MVHR) in houses and blocks of flats.
Focus on Germany, with jobs across Europe including Austria and Switzerland.
Partners
Testing is carried out independently.
Whoever does the cleaning should not assess their own results. That is why independent laboratories carry out the hygiene testing.
BioStates
The first laboratory in Germany certified to VDI 6022
Contact plate samples, airborne microbial sampling and identification of more than 50 mould species. Accredited by DAkkS to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025.
Separating the work from the testing is what really matters: you get a result that third parties will also accept.
Why HI-Lüftungsservice
Six reasons that make the difference
Working in industry, hospitals, cleanrooms, offices and shipbuilding since 2006.
Your operations can keep running
Section-by-section cleaning under negative pressure instead of shutting down the entire system. And if your process needs a constant air supply, we come at night, at the weekend or during your company shutdown.
Fewer cuts into the duct
One access point every 50 to 100 metres instead of an access panel every two metres. Every cut avoided is one leakage point fewer and saves you panels, fitting and remedial work.
Over 20 years of experience
Since 2006 in production halls, hospitals, cleanrooms, office buildings and shipbuilding. From commercial kitchens to onboard ventilation.
Evidence that stands up
CCTV inspection before and after the work, cleaning report, laboratory report and inspection label. All from a single source and in the format that auditors check.
Independent assessment
Independent partner laboratories carry out the microbiological testing. Whoever does the cleaning should not assess their own results.
Two methods, a single point of responsibility
Ventilation cleaning and dry ice cleaning from a single source. We tell you which method your system needs before the quotation, not after.

Ductwork cleaning in Düsseldorf: frequently asked questions
The key guideline for ventilation and air-conditioning systems is VDI 6022. For the cleaning itself, we are guided by VDI 6022 Part 8, the first recognised technical standard for commercial ventilation cleaning. For kitchen extract systems, VDI 2052 applies. In addition, the German Workplace Ordinance (ArbStättV) and ASR A3.6 require employers to provide air that is safe to breathe.
Often not. We seal off individual duct sections with an inflatable duct balloon and create negative pressure there. The rest of the system keeps running. If your process needs a constant air supply, we work at night, at the weekend or during your company shutdown. Out-of-hours work is charged at a surcharge.
Because we travel through the duct run with a robot instead of cutting it open every two metres. One access point every 50 to 100 metres is usually enough. This saves you the panels and their fitting, and above all it means fewer leakage points in the duct, where air is permanently lost.
An independent testing laboratory. We work with BioStates in Baden-Baden, the first laboratory in Germany certified to VDI 6022, and with the Hygiene-Institut-Mainfranken. Separating the work from its assessment is deliberate, because only then will third parties accept the findings.
That depends on the size of the system, the level of contamination and accessibility, so there is no general answer. That is why we always start with a survey of the system. Send us a few photos and we can give you a realistic estimate of the work involved.
Yes. Our focus is on Germany, but our work takes us across Europe, including Austria and Switzerland. In shipbuilding and yacht building in particular, we regularly work abroad.
Our head office is in Würzburg, with further locations in Oberboihingen and Stuttgart. We focus on Germany and work across Europe, including Austria and Switzerland.
